Carol - do you know if Lucretia had a brother named James who married a
Trice.
Or who the parents of George Carden, father of Silas Link Carden, were?
Still looking for family of my Patsie Carden (m. Harrison Woods)......the
more I Cardens I can get in line, the easier it will be. :)

Mark, Welcome to the Digest. I am happy to hear that another Carden may have
ties to North Carolina.
My Carden line goes back to George Carden, born 1828, in Orange County, North
Carolina. There are several theories as to who is parents were but none of
them are provable. His first known child was William, so if he followed the
old tradition of naming the first born son after the father's father, then
George's father was William Carden. However, there is a chance he was named
after the father of his wife, Lucretia Gilbert. Again, no proof.
In addition to William, George and Lucretia had sons named John W., Henry M.,
James Jamison, and George Crawford Carden. Their daughters were Martha Jane,
Mary Elizabeth (Mollie), and Laura.
I hope this sparks a connection somewhere.
Good luck.
Carol Scarlett
