Hi Arthur, Greetings and how did the holiday in Ireland with the
grand-children go off.
I have now found some more about our mysterious cousin of Maria Carden Abbot
a Dr Foresight. Does any of it make any sense to you with regard to the
Carden line?
Death notice in 'The Melbourne Argus' newspaper in Victoria September 1897:
MCDONALD on the 24th September, at Carlton. Maria, relict of John McDonald
late Elizabeth Street, grand-daughter of Nicholas Carden esq., of Jockey
Hall, Templemore Ireland, grand-niece of Sir Henry Carden, cousin of Dr.
Foresight, late of this city: arrived in this city, December 1841, in the
Branken Moor, mother of Mrs. Barrett, Mrs Dibble and E. McDonald, aged 76.
R.I.P.
(I have been unable to finds Dr Foresight but I did find the following in
Tipperary Ireland Indexes
Forsyth Dr North Riding Templemore Mullane's Street in the Griffith Index
for County Tipperary between 1847-1860)
They appear to be 2 different fellows -
Samuel Forsyte arrived on the "Royal Saxon" 17th July 1841. The vessel had
called into Cork on the journey.
Passenger list shows Samuel Forsayeth and his wife Hannah.
The Port Phillip Gazette carried the following advertisement on the 21st
August, 1841.
