Chuck and others,
I'll try to take a look at my John Robert Paysinger microfilm (3 reels
purchased from TSLA) before you go to Nashville. If I find anything on
Robert Carden in this extensive collection I'll advise. Check this TSLA
link for many middle and east Tennessee family names other than
Carden.....

My husband's grandparents Myrtha Fredonia Paysinger and John Kirk Carden
(both born in the 1880s) are among the Cardens that Paysinger included
in his family group sheets. John Kirk is descended from Larkin Carden,
an early settler in Giles County TN.
Two weeks ago I met a Monroe County, TN Carden researcher at TSLA who
promised to send me some information, particularly old family tales.
Three weeks ago I was at the Hart Co KY Historical Society searching my
mother's families when I found a huge file on my husband's Cardens.
These Giles, Monroe and Hart county families are all believed to be from
Robert Carden and Phyllis Woolbanks. I'm so deep in other lines that I
haven't taken the time to put it all together yet.
