Greetings all on Carden research.
I have passed this info onto Arthur - a great find now we need to put more
pieces into the puzzle - CAN YOU HELP?
A Carden family out there with a "brick wall" may be looking for this link
so please take the time to read the message and see if it fits anything you
know.
Name: Edward Carden
Sex: Male
Birth: 27 May 1815
Baptism: 28 May 1815
Baptism Place: Killeigh, County Offaly, Ireland
Father: Nicholas Carden c 1775/85
Mother: Eliza Bourke c 1790
Miscellaneous: Father late of the Tipperary Militia
Source: The Parish Registers of Killeigh, Diocese of Kildare, King's
County (Offaly): Baptisms 1808-1823; Marriages 1808-1832, and Deaths
1808-1835.
Name: Eliza Bourke
Sex: Female
Birth: abt 1790
Birthplace: of Templemore, County Offaly, Ireland
Baptism Place: Killeigh, County Offaly, Ireland
Spouse: Nicholas Carden
Source: As above.
Though Killiegh is in eastern Offaly, it is only about 30 miles from
Templemore.
Nicholas Carden bc1775/80 and mention above of the Tipperary Militia would
tend to support the possibility that the above Nicholas was possibly a
brother of Bessie (Elizabeth) Carden c1781 m William ABBOT and Robert Carden
c1788 married 1) Bridget Ann Dalahunty 2) Ann Fogarty, the children of
Nicholas Carden 1737-1815 of Barnane Tipperary whose families are traced in
Australia. (See Arthur's book).
There is another Nicholas Carden 1825-1873 in the family who is the son of
Robert above who went back to Ireland.
Now we have found this new Nicholas Carden bc1775/80 of the Tipperary
Militia who married Eliza BOURKE.
I am sure that the Nicholas Carden who married Eliza BOURKE probably left
Ireland sometime after the birth of the above Edward or other siblings - he
no doubt went to either the UK, USA, Canada or Australia/NZ. I would be
surprised if he stayed in Ireland. As we cannot find any connection to him
in Australia at this present time, perhaps there is someone out there just
waiting for such a link.
I would also like to find the descendants and siblings of this Edward Carden
but as there are a great number of Edward Cardens we would need to pin that
down further to make any connections. If you have an Edward Carden b 1815
you would need to establish his parents if possible.
Get in touch please if you can make any contribution to this line of
research. - Perhaps it will show up in the DNA research one day, descendants
of an Edward Carden with DNA matches back to Barnane descendants.
kind regards
