Hi listers,
I'm hoping someone can help me with my CARDEN line. I have collected much
info. on CARDEN's trying to make a connection and keep coming up at a dead
end. Here's my dilema:
Rumor has it that my grandmother's ( Ella McCargo my grandmother) mother was,
Fannie Carden. On her SS application (6-19-1972), she (Ella) had written
that Fannie Carden was her mother. Record has it that Fannie Venable was
really her mother. However, I have not been able to find evidence to support
who her mother really was. I also found a family portrait of an older couple
(1906). On the back of this portrait was written adopted parents of Ella
McCargo (my grandmother) written were the names Mary and Fred Carden. Were
Mary and Fred the parents of Fannie Carden? What were they to Ella McCargo?
What was Fannie to Ella?
I have been told that Fannie Venable was my grandmother's real mother, that
she might have died while giving birth to Ella (13-SEPT-1888 Halifax County,
Va.). That Fannie Carden helped to raise Ella and that is why Ella thought
of Fannie Carden as her mother and Fred and Mary Carden as her grandparents.
Please can some one help me with all this confusion? Can anyone suggest
another route for me to take?
Thank you in advance. I'll be more than happy to share what info. I have.
