I'm still searching for my Owen Carden's parents.
He was born in 1820 in Ga.
He bought land from an Andrew Jackson Carden, in Monroe Co. Ga., which became Pike Co. Ga.
in 1837 or 1839.
He married Nancy McLeod in 1843 in Pike Co. Ga.
They are listed in the 1850 census for Pike Co. Ga.
They migrated to Al., sometime after 1854, and were in Tallapoosa Co. Al.
He is sometimes listed as O.H.R., Owen N.K., and I've also seen him listed as Oren.
I have just recently received some new information, thanks to Mr. Jack McConnell.
We are almost certain, we have found where he is buried.
There is an Owen H. Corden, buried in the Oakland cemetery in Atlanta, and he was with
Hillard's Legion, which is the unit my Owen served with.
He died at at Alexander Hospital, and it states he died from a gunshot wound on July 18,
1862.
I again want to thank Jack, for sharing this information with me. At least I know now,
where is final resting place is.
He and Nancy's children were:
Sarah
Margaret
Mary Jane
Nancy
Amanda
Norman
Alexander
Owen Hendrix, my GGrandfather
As you all know I've been searching endlessly, to try and find who his parents were,
and still have no concrete evidence, but I still feel it has to be maybe David or John or
possibly Benjamin Carden, in Pike Co. Ga.
If anyone at all has any new information or can give me anymore advice, on what I can do
to try and find who he belonged to, please let me know.
Thank you,
Becky Carden
