Does your book show anything on America Anne Carden, first husband named (?) Ingles, and
married Robert Rose on Feb. 5, 1865. He was a widower, and she was a widow, and America
could have been nicknamed
'Mary.' They married at St. John's Church in Richmond, VA. America had a
brother James Jefferson Carden. All three are buried on the Carden farm in New Kent,
Virginia. Robert Rose was son of George Rose
of Essex County, VA, and thought to be related to The Robert Rose of
Amherst County, who is buried at St. John's Church, in 1745.
America died in 1917, and Robert died in 1903 in Richmond, VA.

While looking for my Youen Carden notes, I ran across these other
references. From the book "Genealogical Records of Buckingham Co. VA" by
Edythe Rucker Whitley in the 1764 List of Tithes it shows John Davis as
father and then lists Benjamin, Joel and Matthew Davis. There are 5 tithes
in the household, no acres, no wheeled carriages and the possibility of
slaves.
Then from a Buckingham Co. VA marriage book I have noted the following
marriages. 1790 - Benjamin Davis & Milly Carden. 1791 - Youen Carden &
Nancy Davis and John Carden & Catherine Jane Davis (Benjamin Davis is the
surety for the marriage bond). 1792 - John Bell & Mary Carden.
With a very little imagination I could see that Milly, Youen, John and Mary
are siblings. I believe that Benjamin, Nancy and Catherine could be
children of John Davis. I have not pursued this information further. Has
anyone else done more research in this area?
