In looking at the Census of Bradley County TN, Presley Carden is resident from 1840-1880, always listed as Presley/Prestly L. or even PL Carden. His wife is Dici, and Wright is listed as his son. Is this the same Presley we are discussing? If so, I descend from his younger daughter Melissa. She first married Joel Sevier Cash and had a daughter Rebecca Jane. Joel died in the Civil War from Typhoid Fever. Melissa married Greenfield Haney and had five boys. All stayed in Cleveland Bradley County.
I haven't traced all the children but Marion I think wound up in ARK and some of the others were as close as Hamilton Co. TN.
Would this be the same Presley?
My name is Anita (agcrye(a)bellsouth.net) and I would love to discuss the
possible parents of Presley.

Its a brick wall with me also. I believe james and susan are the parents of my presley carden. But I found that I dont think Presley was his first name I think its his middle name. I think his name is acutally william presley carden. Do we have the same presley carden ? My presely has a son name WRight Robert. Wright Roberts death certificate shows his fathers name as W P Carden. Cardens are a mystery to me in alot of ways.

I don't think you were talking to me, Rebecca :) but I'll put in my two cents anyway LOL
My gr-gr was Jasper Floyd Carden who was supposedly named for his mama's side of the family with the Floyd. All the records I do have he went by the name Floyd Carden. So finding James Carden married to Susan Floyd got my 'roots' tingling. But after all this time, I still cannot connect them with anything other than name. Both my cousin Dick and I think we have the right line but we hit a brick wall in proving it.

My folks aren't mentioned so if they came from a James & Susan Carden, it must have been a different one. Thanks so much.

This may be another piece of the Alabama Carden's connection. I have very little on my g grandfather Henry T Carden, but have one note referring to a brother Rand and another note referring to a brother Amos. It must by Amos Randolph Carden that you list. Thanks.

I am a descendant of Presley Carden married to Ms Brown. I have seen her
name spelled many ways, the NC marriage record (21 Feb 1840) shows it as
Blatha C. Brown, in 1850 NC census, Glasphery, in the 1860 Carter County,
TN census, Glathley, the 1880 Carter County, TN census, Glatha. A family
Bible shows her name as Glacie and also lists her maiden name, Brown.
Presley died prior to 9 August 1894 when all the heirs are listed on a deed
registered in Carter County.

I was looking over your Carden Cemetery Names and found some of them listed from Docia Adelaide's husband, Henry Toliver/Talbot Carden's side of the family. A. R. Carden is "Amos Randolph Carden" brother of Henry. J. M. Carden is "James Matthew Carden" the father of Henry, Amos and Matthew Frederick Carden, who is another brother of Henry & Amos. Lucille Carden is the daughter of Amos Randolph Carden & wife, Mary Lou Williams. As far as the "Allen" names, I'm sure they are Emily's family, but I haven't placed their order yet.

I would like to know which child you descend from.
Have you heard that Dici's last name was either Grigsby or Rigsby?
The other Presley married to the Brown, have you followed their line to see
if our Pressley was married twice?
I would love to connect with you and follow this a little farther.

Hello,
Do you know if this Mary Cardin, or her father James, are in the line of Cardens from Hatchechubbee, AL? My g g grandfather was a James, b. in Georgia, married to Edna, b in South Carolina, however both lived in Hatchechubbee. My g grandfather was Henry T Carden, their son. Henry married Docia Adelaide Carden (Carden was her maiden name and her father was Alexander S Carden). A daughter of Henry's & Docia's was my grandmother, Carrie Lou Carden, b. in Hatchechubbee, AL.
Tracing ancestors is like a big jigsaw puzzle and the pieces are so hard to find.
My thanks to you for any information you may be willing to provide.
