There was a William Carden who migrated from Orange County , NC to Oglethorpe County, GA and moved to Jasper County, GA in 1810 and died there in 1824. He had at least 1 child, James who might be in that age range.

On the 1800 Oglethorpe county Georgia census there is a John Cardin age over 45 listed with a son age 10-15 and three daughters in each of the first three age categories. They are listed in Capt. Warter's District. The eldest daughter may be an
Elizabeth.
In Capt. Hardman's District there is a John Smith Cardin listed, age 26-44 with two sons listed under 10.
Also in Hardman's District is a William Cardin, age 26-44 with one son 10-15 and three daughters in the first categories.
Does anyone have info on who these might be? The 1810 census was lost and by 1820 they are gone from Oglethorpe. Are they the ones who are in Jasper county by 1820?

Hi Jack,
I'm wondering if the John Cardin, listed in the 1800 Oglethrope Co Ga.
census, is the John Carden, that ended up in Pike Co. Ga.? I do believe he
was in Oglethrope, and he was in Jasper, before going to Pike.

Hi Ruth,
I think we've posted notes back & forth on this list before about your
Alabama Cardens who came from NC through GA to AL. Will you briefly
'refresh' us on your Carden lineage from as far back as you know it, esp.
your ancestor from the generation that left NC at the end of the Revolution?
Even an 'educated guess' concerning those of your early line who emigrated
from NC would be helpful.
Many Thanks,
Martha

I don't know if I have related to the Alabama Cardens. Five generations
back lived in North Carolina but migrated to Georgia in the 1780's and I
think some went to Alabama but have not been able to connect them yet.

There was a Thomas Carden in Jasper county, Georgia in 1820, later in Henry county, Georgia. He was born around 1796 supposedly in Georgia. Does anyone have him in their file? He may be a brother to my brick wall James Cardin.
