Dear Listers,
Lately I've been corresponding with Jerry Butler, whose family
line includes some Cardens in Coosa Co, AL. David Carden, who
later migrated to Shelby Co, AL, is interesting. The info. below
is what he has found. David's father was Rufus Carden, who
also migrated to Montevallo, Shelby Co, AL from Coosa Co,AL.
Does anyone know of, or connect to, these Coosa Co, AL Cardens?
Thanks, Martha

Hi Arthur,
Thanks... wish you could be here too. You'll have to share pix of the
reunion w/ us via email.
I know the list can't accept them, but sending by batch email should
work.
I'll be sure to send the notes we make to LuLu...

Martha, delighted to hear about your seminar. Wish I could come!
I hope one result of your seminar will be a decision to write a document
containing a summary of all that is known about Alabama Cardens, for the
benefit of future generations. It need not be perfect, just notes. You
could send it to Lulu for printing. Go to www.lulu.com and enter CARDEN
in the search box and you will find two such books which I have already
compiled and it is my intention to add several more.
Hope some of you will join us in England for our Carden Gathering in
September 2008. A long way off, but bear it in mind when planning next
year's holiday. Chuck has already decided to come.
Arthur Carden of Horsham, England.
PS. For my address, my books and other matters please visit
http://www.one-name.org/profiles/carden.html You might like to look at
my blog listed on this site, where I am beginning to put details of the
proposed 2008 Carden Gathering (among other matters of interest to
Cardens).

Hi,
Information of Carden Family, I'm looking for a connection and any
help would be appreciated.
My G.g. grandfather name is John Carden, I do not know his wife's name or
any children accept my Great grandmother ; Sarah Demandy Carden, she all so went
by "Mandy". Sarah was born in Alabama, she was born between 1838-1842.
I found a John Carden-born:N.C., in 1850 census, Benton, Al, married
to a M.A., born: N.C., children: J.W.,R.E., born: Tn., S.M. & John L. born:
Al.
If anyone related to this family and has any information, I would be
grateful.
I found the Cardin "Carden" Family in the 1860 census Jackson Co,
Al., (Their was no" John"
found), Margaret ,born: Ga,, children: Sarah, Lenorde , John, Thomas, Dick,
born: Al.
I do know that my Sarah came from Jackson Co, Al. She married George
Washington Berry.
They are in the 1880 census of Jackson Co., Al census. They came to Texas
and are in the 1900
census in Texas.
If anyone is related to either side of this family, any help would be
appreciated very much.
I just love this site, you can get a lot of information from people helping
other's.
Thanks, L. Turner

Hi Becky,
Saw your message and thought I would ask if you knew of any of your Cardens
that may have been near Clark Co. I have been proof reading the tax records
that will be published soon for 1804 Clarke Co., Ga. And there was a Carden
in them.

Jack,
O.K., I found him, and also the Benjamin Franklin Carden.
I thought I'd look to see if they might resemble, any of my group and the
only thing I see,is that they appear to be tall, and all of my Carden's were
tall.
The one that most resembles my Owen Hendrix, son of my O.H.R., is Martha's,
William Cary Carden.
I looked at a picture of my dad in his uniform and there is a slight
resemblence, or at least I think there is, to the, Harry Carden, son of the
James W. Carden, which you submitted.
I like looking at the pictures to see if I can see any resemblences.
I'm looking at the picture of the David Jackson Carden, and the one of
Martha's, James Robert Graves "R.G." Carden, and I think they look a bit
alike, especially the nose and the mouth.
