Charles,
One more odd bit of information. As I said, Owen Carden was my mother's first cousin. Odelite was my first husband's mother's first cousin. But we didn't know about the relationship until we had been married for several years. My former mother-in-law was Marie Carter, formerly Clark. Do you know how she was related to Odelite?

Polly, thank you for the info on Robert Owen Carden. His date of birth was November 15, 1915. He married my sister Odelite Webber (DOB October 14, 1913) in Clinton, TN on February 09, 1935 by the Rev. W. L. Pickering. Owen and Odelite had one child, Eddie David Carden.

I can’t remember if I responded to this message before, but in case I didn’t, here I go.
My gg-grandfather was Thomas Bartholomew Carden. I am pretty sure his father’s name was Asa. In a family photo that was taken Easter Weekend, 1907 in San Blas, (now Tyndall Air Force Base) FL, she identified his brother John.
I believe that Thomas was born between 1860-1863 and he died in Jackson County, FL in 1939.

Existing FamilyTreeDNA. com customers may want to take a look at all the
new "Advanced" tests now available via the "Order Tests" link in the

now being offered. I think it has something to do with FTDNA opening
their own new lab in Houston and the acquisition of DNA-Fingerprint.

Log onto your personal account page at FTDNA, and click on the "Order

Just a reminder ---
In light of the recent emails to this list with family info. stating
that Phyllis Woolbanks/Wilbank(s) was the mother of all of ALL of the
children of Robert Carden (abt. 1705-1785), Goochland Co,VA:
This is a 're-post' of the conclusion that Leland Thornburg Carden has
drawn concerning his belief that Phyllis Woolbanks/Wilbank(s)is NOT the
mother of Robert Carden/in's children born bef.1755-60 in Goochland
Co,VA.
Also, Robert Willbanks, a well known family researcher, and I have
corresponded in the past; and he too believes the
same as Leland Carden --- Phyllis Woolbanks/Wilbank(s) is NOT the first
wife of Robert Carden of Goochland Co,VA.
To restate Leland's question ---
Has anyone been able to find the name of Robert's first wife yet?
Cheers, Martha

Hello to all....
Leland Thornburg Carden, Jr., here, still in Tennessee. I have been
reading with interest all of the email traffic flowing lately on the
Carden-L. Due to family and professional responsibilities I have not
been able to participate in genealogy research for quite a while now.
In the past I did accumulate quite a collection of family data, and
analyzed it with the help of many "cousins" and reseach materials. Re:
the subject of this listing, I long ago ascertained to my satisfaction
that the Phyllis could not have been the mother of Robert's children
born before1755-60.
At one time I had made some conjectures as to who the first wife might
have been, but cannot put my hands on those files at this time (nor can
I find the info in my memory bank). Maybe someone on the List will
discover, or may already have discovered her identity.
Just thought I'd chime in on this.
Leland

Thanks, Jeannie. A guy on another board told me that Jasper Floyd Carden's parents were James Carden and Susannah Floyd, and that he had brothers named George Washington, Dock, and Frank.
I have James Carden's birthdate as 1-21-1789 and Susannah's as 1-23-1791 and their marriage date as 1-8-1810 in Granville County, NC.
I've emailed the guy back and asked for more info.
