I looked at the site for the draft registration cards and noticed my
grandfather's information (still living). I know it is public record, but can you
please email me and I'll let you know his name so it can be taken off your
site? Thank you

Yes, I think that I have some info. on Civility Ann Ball.
Could you write me privately, and then one of us could
post back to this board? That way info. stays private
until we want to display it.
I also have Ray, Gentry & Smitherman in my lines in AL.
Thanks, Martha

Today I got a death certificate for my great great grandfather Rufus Carden b Jan 23 1860 d Jan 15 1945 and it states his parents were Thomas Carden and Sylivia Ball. Her tombstone at New Salem in Chilton county says Civility Ann Ball. It states he was born in Munford, Alabama. Does anyone know who Thomas or Civility's parents were?

Does anyone have information of a Miriam R. Carden who was in Sylacauga (Talladega County) Alabama in 1970? I am trying to locate her and any help would be appreciated. Have you known of a Miriam Carden anywhere, especially in Shelby County or Talladega County in that time frame? t
About the New England Carden:
I can't get my Cardens out of Orange County with any real surety, but I am
originally from New England (Salem, Massachusetts) and several times I saw
mention of the Carden name in the local newspapers. The last I recall was a
young man on a high school sports team. Somewhere I'm sure I have the clipping,
but it was so long ago. The family may have been from Marblehead.
The local paper (The Salem News) is online.
The Salem Public Library has a good local history collection. They are
located at 370 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970 (508-744-0860)
The Phillips Library at the Peabody Essex Museum (formerly called the Essex
Institute) is at 132 Essex Street, Salem, MA 01970 (508-744-3390). They have
an extensive collection that goes back to the 1600s.
Good luck.

Thanks, Margaret...
I really do appreciate the info.about Luther Carden. It looks
like he was a contributor to the betterment of life in several
dimensions in AL and other states.
Have been compiling data over the last few months from
several others who have these lines in the state, and whose
ancestors went from here to nearby states, then on out west
in most cases. Now, I think I 'feel' a book about CARDEN's
in Alabama coming on... <s>.
Kind Regards, Martha

I have my entire Carden line based in Lynn Mass, and would like to connect with some others in the Carden line out of New England.
After Lynn they go back to Adams Mass and into New york then back to Canada.
Help finding cousins please.

Hi, guys! I finally made it to the Polk County, TN Historical & Genealogical Society in Benton, TN. Ms. Marian Presswood is very knowledgeable and so helpful. I didn't have enough time (go figure!) so I've decided I'll be visiting there a lot.
In the search for Jasper F. "Floyd" Carden, Ms. Presswood said that since his residence was in Servilla, TN to try looking in the Monroe County census records because Servilla was right at the Polk/Monroe line. There's no chance I'll get to Madisonville anytime soon and I can't find what I was looking for online. When I go back to the Polk County site, I'll see what all she has on Monroe County.
Since Floyd was born in 1828, I'm hoping to find "Jasper Floyd" or some variation of that name in the 1830 census. His first wife, Annie Ware, died before the Civil War in Roane County, TN. Should I be looking at Roane County also?
Well, thanks for listening. Sooner or later, I'll find what I need (I hope). Curiousity is eating me alive to find out which of the original Cardens he "sprang from".
