yes, the cemetery is in Shelby Co., not to many miles out of Birmingham, it's been a few years since i was down there, i took my mother with me, she passed away in 1999, so right now i don't remeber the Hwy no., i'd have to look at the map. i've the directions written down somewhere.......LOL.
one of my Carden contacts said her mother told her, these Carden's were part of the Spring Hill ( i think that's the name of the place) bunch.
i desend from Leonard Carden who married Tabitha Peace, then Sintha Henson.
his son Reuben was 3rd gr.grandfather. his son John , my gg-grandfather, his son, James Polk Carden, my g-grandfather, who was the father of my maternal grandfather , John Franklin Carden.
my Carden's came out of Va., into the Carolina's then into Tn., then Reuben took his family into Murray Co. Ga. after the 1850 Polk Co. Tn. census. then after 1890 my gg-grandfather shows up in DeKalb Co. Al. land records and from there into Marion Co. Al.

No, I am sorry, but I am just getting started doing our family tree. is Dargin Cemetary in Shelby County? My mother is dorothy (dot) jean carden. Her father is Earmon Carden. Her mother is Galdys Smith Carden. They had 9 children who were all raised in Calera, or Sylacauga, AL. They are Billy Ray, Earmon Jr (Bud), Daisy Mae, Barbara Allen, Donny Wayne, Dorothy (dot) Jean, Vivian June (bitty), Edwin Allen (Bo), and Jerry. My mother, Dot, and her sister Daisy both worked at Pop's Bar b Que as teens. Daisy married JD Lucas, and stayed in the area. The rest of them moved away after marriage. My Grandfather Earmon (rounder) remarried after he and my grandmother divorced. He married a lady named Frances Findley (? spelling) Frances had previously been married to my great uncle, Charlie Carden until his death. I remember that Frances had a brother named Johnny Findley, who was in law enforcement. They remained in Shelby county until death. I remember my mother speaking very fondly !
of a cousin named Sybil (don't know the last name) I also remember her talking alot about a man named Roy Dale. I don't know if he was related or just a friend. Sorry to babble on, but if any of this rings a bell, please write back Thanks for answering.

do you know anything about the Carden's buried at Dargin Cemetery? i'm also a Carden descendant but the Campbell's buried there are my maternal grandmother's brother and some of his family.
her name was Mary Nancy Elizabeth Campbell Carden, she married my grandfather John Franklin Carden. ( they are buried at Shady Grove, between Phil Campbell & Hackleburg Al.)
my mother said she thought these Carden's were connected to ours but didn't know how.

Terry,
I would also like to welcome you to the group!
I'm Becky Carden living in Alabama, and I descend from O.H.R. Carden, who came from Pike Co. Ga. over to Alabama.
I have a very strong feeling he descends from either a John or David Carden, that were also in Pike Co. Ga., and they came down from Va.
By the way, I have a cousin by the name of Terri, but she is a female, living in Florida.
Glad to have you with us.
Becky Carden

I don't know if this is realted or not. My Gfather was Earmon Russell Carden, and lived in Shelby County Alabama. His father's name was Aaron, and his mother was Liza Jane. I don't know Liza's maiden name. I do know that she divorced Aaron, and married Jasper, who I believe to be Aaron's brother. I know they had Earmon (better known as "rounder") and Charlie. I am not sure about other siblings. If any of this rings a bell, could you write me?

Are there any Scottish Cardens out there? I have been running into brick
walls in my search for my line of Cardens. My line is from Angus, Scotland,
but I have heard that there may be a Welsh connection somewhere... As far
as I know, I have no American Carden cousins.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Sarah

Hi Terry,
Welcome, it's good to have another 'cousin' onboard the list.
We're looking forward to hearing more from you about yourself & your CARDEN
family.
Send pictures too... <smile>
It's really fascinating to me how many CARDEN's all over the world can trace
their origins back to Cheshire, or
thereabouts. Did you have your DNA profile done @ FT-DNA yet? If not, will
you be having it done soon? Viewing those results is lots of fun.

Carden researchers,
I received the following email. I am trying to help Bobbi find her Great
grandmother.
----------------------------------
Hello
My name is Bobbi Reeder and I have been viewing your web page. It is really
fantastic and it made me quite jealous. You have been able to find so much
history and I have a headache. I was wondering if in your research (and I
did check thru some of your pages) if you have ever come across a Frances
Carden in Columbus, Ga. She would be my great grandmother married to Robert
Cook. As far as I know they had at least three children. Calvin Monroe Cook
(my grandfather) a sister Lillian and a brother name unknown. My
grandfathers DOB is April 1888. If you have any information or come across
any please let me know.
Thanks
Bobbi
