I have a John Ancil Carden married to Martha Edna Viles in 1906 Anderson

my knowledge, the CARDIN spelling was not used in Anderson County, TN, the
middle name Ancel was very common. The CARDIN spelling was common in
Monroe County, TN. Does anyone know if this individual connects with the

Hi..I see on Rootsweb..you are researching the Carden/Berry line. My
husband descends from Sanford Berry, father of your Margaret Carden.
Have you ever
found out Sanford's wife's name? Any info you can share about Sanford
Berry would be appreciated. Thanks Evelyn Berry
Hi everyone,
When I saw this name it sort of threw me for a minute. My mother's name
is Frances Carden.
Then I read more, and I thought I recognized the name of Dr. James
Middleton!! I grew up in Shreveport, La., and he indeed was pastor of
First Baptist Church.
I also recognized the name of Dr. Jon Stubbefield. He was pastor at
First Baptist, about the time I moved to Alabama!!
I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Middleton's death!

Hi folks. I don't know if many of you have mIRC to chat on...but there is a
super genealogy research group on there that I've gotten to know and they
would like to invite everyone to a special event they're hosting.
The server is Afternet and the chat room is #GenealogyForum. They are using
the alphabet and researching one letter each week. The folks who run the
room keep everything clean and nice! No worry about weirdo's!
The next letter to be done is "D" and the group will meet online on April 26
at 9 p.m. (eastern). Each person posts a list of their surnames with that
weeks letter and the others in the room compare them to their lists and
information. There have been some really great connections made.
If any of you would be interested in joining in a serious discussion with
some very nice folks...think about checking it out.
Hope to see some of you there!
Regards,
Cathy

If you need further information, the channel has a web page at

Mrs. Frances Carden Middleton
MUNFORDVILLE, KY - Funeral service for Mrs. Frances Carden

Frances McElroy Carden was born in Munfordville Kentucky, on January 13,
1912 She was the daughter of Cap Robert Carden and Mary Hubbard Carden. She
graduated from

Because of her father's tenure in the U.S. Congress, she transferred to
George Washington University in Washington, DC, where she became a lifelong
member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and graduated with a degree in Fine Arts.
After her return to her family home in Munfordville, she met her future
husband James Wallace Middleton, who was serving as Pastor of Munfordville
Baptist Church while attending Southern Baptist Seminary. Following his
graduate studies, they were married in Munfordville Baptist Church and began
their life together in Clinton, MS, where Dr. Middleton had been called as
Pastor of the Mississippi College church, his home church. Their other
pastorates included First Baptist Church, San Angelo, TX; First Baptist
Church, Atlanta, GA; and First Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA. During these
years, Mrs. Middleton raised their four children and contributed to the
churches in a variety of capacities, including directing the young peoples'
Sunday school, teaching Sunday school classes, and serving as an officer in
the Woman's Missionary Union.
Upon retirement from First Baptist Church in Shreveport, Mrs. Middleton
accompanied her husband to Stavangar, Norway, where they worked for a year
under the auspices of the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist
Convention to establish a church serving American oil workers'. Their
retirement years were then divided between their home in Shreveport and Mrs.
Middleton's family home in Munfordville.

Does anyone know who Ruby Rice Carden is? She was born 1/2/1916 and died 3/15/1998, she is buried in the Carden Cemetery in Milner, Georgia. She is probably a descendant of Christopher Bailey Carden. As his son and grandson are buried there. I do not have Ruby in my file and I am certain she belongs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, to those who are interested I have posted some pictures of headstones at the Virtual Cemetery at www.genealogy.com (I still have more to add) I will be adding these to my website on Mon. and Tues. I will also be updating the descendant reports and complete name list. I will email the list when this is completed.
Thanks

Hi John,
Welcome to the list. Although it may seem that all the Cardens are in the USA I can assure you that there are many in the British Isles and other countries. It has to be said that the Americans are first class information sharers and great users of the list which perhaps gives the impression that Cardens are in the minority elsewhere to those just starting out on their family history.
Arthur Carden, who has posted a fascinating article about the Domeday Book (hello Arthur), and who is the keeper of all non-American Carden information, sent me notes on the various families descending from the Cardens of Co. Mayo and Co. Sligo, Ireland. These include branches in Glasgow and Edinburgh. With the names that you give, it seems likely that your Cardens were previously from Ireland. We have traced our Cardens here in Liverpool back to Co. Mayo.
If you would care to write to me at my e-mail address (below) perhaps I could be of some assistance to you in making a start.
Best wishes to all, wherever you are,
Lynn Bateman
