I received this from a cousin, who is in DAR. Thought some of you might
like to know about the increase proposal.

Application and Supplemental Fees
February 5, 2003
Proposed Application and Supplemental Fee Increase
Continental Congress last raised application fees in 1984 from $10 to
$25. The National Board of Management has recommended that application fees
be increased from $25 to $75. This is a decision delegates to Continental
Congress will make in July. The finance committee has recommended a review
of all fees. Upon consideration of the costs to verify an application paper
the actual amount is $75.74 per application. We are sensitive to the
finances of our members and believe this increase will have the least impact
on them while still being financially responsible.
Supplemental fees were last raised in 1986 from $10 to $25. The National
Board of Management has also recommended that Continental Congress delegates
increase this fee from $25 to $75. The costs to verify a supplemental are
also calculated to be $75.74. The staff spends time checking the papers and
also in training the volunteers in department procedures. Again, it is
important that the organization make sound financial decisions in
establishing these fees.
