I'm trying to locate anyone connected to these families, Day and
Trembley. Katherine Ann Day was born abt 1897 in Quebec, Canada, She
married, or maybe not, a Mr, Trembley from Canada and their daughter
was born 6/18/1912 in VanCouver, British Columbia, her name was Thelma
Eileen Trembley. They are both found on the census for 1920 and 1930
in Seattle King Co. WA. Katherine and Thelma showed dual Citizenship
for Thelma. What happened to Mr Trembley I don't know?? Katherine's
occupation was a telephone operator and later an instructor for same.
The census also indicates that Katherine and Thelma came to Seattle Abt
1911. Now 1920 Census shows Catherine and Thelma listed with HOH,
Maynard Taylor, showing Thelma's relationship to Maynard as his dau.and
shows a young son named Maynard L. and Catherine as his wife. In 1930
Census Seattle City, King Co WA pg14A/253 it has Maynard Taylor as HOH
and widowed along with his sister and brotherinlaw. In the same
census but on page36A/94 it lists William F Card as HOH, Katherine as
his wife Thelma E. as his adopted daughter and Manyard Taylor as his
stepson.. Very curious but I have had this same thing happen in another
family and in that situation they were actually divorced and Katherine
remarried to William. I believe that the ages listed for Katherine and
William were the age of when they actually married other spouses. So
here's my thoughts in a nut shell---Katherine married Mr Trembley at 17
which was 1910-1911 and then married Maynard Taylor after June 1912 and
before JAN. 1920 Then married William Card after Jan 1920 and before
April 1930. Thelma was blind at 7yrs old and I think William Card
adopted her because of medical insurance and her special care. Most of
the information received for these people other than census records is
the original SS application made by Thelma on Nov 27 1936. She lists
the name of her birth father as Trembley and Card as her adopted father
and her mother as Katherine Ann Day under mother's maiden name. On that
same appl. her business is listed as Puget Sound ( ) and Light
Company Seattle WA.
So if anyone has access to marriage records would you see if you could
find any of Katherine's also one for Thelma Eileen (Trembley or Card) t
o a Mr . Crane between 1930 and 1936 in Seattle, King Co, Washington. I
don't know how to get census records for Canada in 1900?
Thanks
