Back in 1997 when I first started doing genealogy, I found my aunt Elsie
(Gliddon) Card in the SSDI and it said her last benefit was in Altus,
Oklahoma. I knew she had a son, but I only knew his nickname, Buddy. I
hadn't seen him since he was a toddler. So, I did a white pages search
and found a man named Archie Irvin Card and called. He didn't know
anything about genealogy - definitely wasn't my cousin - and told me to
talk to his wife. She told me her sister-in-law, Betty Hayes, was
coming to visit that afternoon and she'd have her call me. She called
and we talked quite a while but couldn't find a connection. She sent me
her list of Card family members via snail mail. I have a stack of paper
nearly a half inch thick. I will scan them and email them to you.
Please send me your regular email address so I can do that. I'm pretty
sure they won't be accepted by the Ancestry list.
There is one small problem. I'm going to have surgery next Tuesday and
this is the first real surgery I've ever had so I don't know about
recovery time, but I will get the images to you as soon as I can. Send
me your email and I will get started.

Alta, thanks for the info. Zemri (or Zemriah) Card is my gr
grandfather and
Catherine Shomith/Shewmake was his wife, her mother was Elizabeth Thomas.
I would appreciate the info you have of the above, and who submitted it to
you.
I'll be happy to forward your email to Ed Card. I;m sure he would
appreciate it.
Always, Imo

| I'm sorry I couldn't help you.
|
| I have a file of a southern Card family that was given to me - just
| names and dates - no locations. It starts with Zemri (or Zemriah) Card,
| born in 1804 and died in 1896. He married Catherine [Thomas] Shomith.
| Her name is written that way in the file - maybe Thomas was her maiden
| name and she was previously married to Mr. Shomith. If you think there
| is a connection, I would be happy to send them to you.
|
| I have a cousin Edward Card, born in 1941 in Springfield, Massachusetts,
| that I lost touch with when he was a toddler. It would be great if he
| were your friend, Ed Card. But whether he is or isn't, please forward
| my letter. I'm always open to finding and sharing information on the
| family. I've only gotten back to my great great grandparents in New
| Brunswick, Canada. I keep hoping someone will send me a clue.
