I haven't posted in a long time, and with the recent activity, I thought it
would be worthwhile. My line of Cards begins with Peter Card in New Jersey,
who showed up in northern NJ in the 1750s. I have never been able to find
out where he came from - could be England or he could be connected to the
Richard Card line from New England. It seems that plenty of families
migrated from there to NJ in the 1700s especially those connected with the
iron industry. His wife's name was Sarah (still haven't found her maiden
name) and they started having children in the 1760s so I suspect Peter was
born in the 1740s.
Their known children are:
Henry Card b. 1765
Peter Card b. Nov. 10 1763 or 1768
Catherine Card b. ca 1770 m. Joseph Crill (Rev. soldier)
John Card b.1775
Rachel Card b. 1775/1780 m. Benjamin Sullivan
Stephen Card b. ca 1777 - d. 1867
My line is through Stephen Card and his wife Catherine Oldham, and my line
has always been in NJ. I was born a few miles from where Peter was living in
the 1700s.
There is also another line of Cards at the same time in Monmouth Co. NJ who
I suspect are related, but haven't found any conclusive proof yet.
I would love to get past the brick wall and find out who the parents of
Peter were and where they came from. Any leads would be greatly appreciated,
and I'm always happy to share whatever information I've got.

Many thanks Linda for your kind words - pleased that you liked my efforts
and will keep my fingers crossed that a link will be found, if not with
my
Sussex/Kent family, with another one somewhere in England at least.
Happy hunting, regards Jill
