Susan,
Thanks for the offer to look Cards up in your index. This line is very
difficult for me as my father was an orphan. If you could find Roy Adelbert
Card in the census, in PA, with a wife it would be wonderful. I am trying to
establish the name of my grandmother.
Thanks a heap,

Janet CARD Headley -- me
My father, Ron Card, was an orphan and I cannot find his mother -- he told me
the mother's name on his birth certificate was incorrect. I have no living
relatives to interview. The story goes like this. He was born in Franklin,
PA. At some point he went to live with his paternal grandparents until his
grandmother died in 1911. At the age of 4 yrs. he was put in an orphanage.
His father was alive and established at least one more family. My father had
no contact with him. The only relatives that my dad knew were his half
sister and an aunt. We never talked about it much because it was so painful
for him. When he was ready to retire, he sent for his birth certificate and
found that most of it was wrong (according to his knowledge of his life) --
another painful time.
My guess is that he was illegitimate or his mother died in child birth. I do
not know the name of the orphanage in which he was placed -- I think it was
in PA.
