Does anyone have any info on a Jno Card, who immigrated to America from
Barbados 1679. (I found this on a list: Card, Jno, Barbados, 1679,
776 page 155)
Has anyone got info on these Rev. War men: they are listed in the
Peirce's Register of NC.
William Card, DAR Seventh report of the DAR, page 6, 90268.
Jno Card, pvt. , Walsh's company, date enlisted and commission, 1777;
occurrences, died 4 Oct 1777
William Card, sergt., Yarboro's company, year 1781, period of 12
months. , out; 22 April 1782
Joseph Card, Pvt., Vol X, page 260, land grant #1332, 640 acres to the
heirs of Joseph Card, dec'd, service 84 months, capt Wm. Bush company.
( it is also stated that Joseph Card died Oct 4, 1777, same as the above
Jno Card)
The above were in the NC Continental Line of the Rev. War.
My gr gr grandfather was Joseph Card. first found in Washington Co.,
VA, 1810 , 1820, 1830 census, he went to Pike Co., IL., was on 1840
census there and died there May 16, 1847. Two of his daughter's state
on census 1850, they were born in NC. So, I think one of the above men
in Rev. War, could be his father. and it is also possible that Benson
Card maybe his father., as a Joseph Card was in Wake Co., NC, at the
same time.
Irene Card Johnson, wrote a manuscript, of Card surname in Wake Co.,
NC, Our Family Tree 1665 - 1978. She mention Benson Card, Saybert
Card, Joseph Card. Her manuscript has a copy of Joseph Card's land
grant #1332. She also has a copy of a Bible page with names and birth
dates, but does not say whose Bible this was from. ( does anyone know
whose Bible this was ??)
Also of Wake Co., NC; Frances Bledsoe married Joseph Card, this is
stated in both her parents wills; says wife of Joseph Card. But I've
not been able to find a marriage record.
My line:
Joseph Card 1772-1775
