Hey Ed!
Good to hear from you as well! I have a cousin named Ed Card and I always
think you are him when I see the name in my inbox. Among my notes on loose
ends I have the following:
"George Card and Margaret parents of George, born 24 Feb. 1856, Monmouth
(from Monmouth Co. marriage records on file at the Archive at
Manalapan
George Card and Margaret Reid marr. 5-09-1855 by W. Hires, Minister)
This
George was the son of Edward Shannon Card of Maine who moved to Tennessee."
Do you know who the parents of Edward Shannon Card were? Evidently he
sojourned in NJ for quite a while if he joined the seaman's association.

Adrian,
Nice to hear from you. As you know, my CARD line is related to the REID
family by virtue of the marriage of EDWARD SHANNON CARD to RACHEL ANN REID
of Monmouth County, NJ. I have found documentation showing that Edward
Shannon Card was a member of a seaman's association in Monmouth County. He
probably joined after moving down from Maine. I believe he had two brothers
who were also seamen but I have not been able to connect them to any Cards
in NJ.
Take care,
Ed Card
