In census was listed of Westmeath but not the town in a book I examined on Ireland at
Guildford Reference library it stated their were Carberrys in Athlone
Family legend as told by his daughter Sarah Loiuse was that he came to England to sell
horses but while he was over here he got involved with a woman and spent the money and was
unable to return to Ireland

Was she know as Lizzie and did she marry some one called Joe if so it possible she was
married before 1908
It is known that she had a family she had two sons who went to Reigate Grammer School and
also played Rugby
She also had a daughter who married someone called Watts.

Her husband had a tailors shop in Bond Street?possibly between the wars and her husbands
name was Arthur Richards, although this is not proven and they had a family. according to
letter W.T.Isard wrote in 1939. She was alive in October 1965 and was livingat 39 Prout
Grove Neasdon London NW10 with Tom and Wyn her husband was then dead

formerly Thorogood at the time James senior was a coachman it was signed bby his father
who gave his address as Coombe Down Moncton Coome he registered it on the 20th December
1875
He went to Canada to live It is known that he was in Bootle Liverpool in July 1907 and was
in Montreal 29th March 1908 living at 316 St Antoine Street Montreal the last letter from
him was written on 26 November 1944 from 385 4th Avenue Verdun Canada. It is known that he
lived in the Sun Life Buildings in Metcalf Street Montreal for a long time. So I wrote to
Sun Life Insurance of Canada but they did not know of him.

Sarah was born on the 29th November 1877 at Tickenham in Somerset. She was the fifth child
of James and Eliza. Her father came from Ireland probably Westmeath. It has been told to
me that he came to England to sell some horses, but got involved with a woman and then
stayed. Sarahs mother Eliza Thorogood came from Canfield in Essex
HOMES
It is known that in the 1871 census that her parents were living at 2 Albert Street
Monkton Coombe in Somerset . In 1881 they were at Tickenham Somerset. They moved to Kiln
Brow Reigate sometime between 1905 and 1907. It is known they were living at Warren Road
on 30th April 1915
MARRIAGE
At the time of her marriage it is believed that she was in service. She was living at 4
Alberts Street Regents Park London. She was aged 25 and was a spinster
MEDICAL
For most of her life she was a diabetic and I can remember that she had to take daily
injections of insulin
DIED
She died on the 18th December 1967 at the age of 90 from cerebral vascular disease at the
Redhill County hospital
BURIED
She was buried with her late husband James Linn. Grave No F4683. She had the following
inscription added to her husband headstone ;-
also our dearest mum
