Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Arturo "Carpetas"
Carbajal, 80, of Anthony left his dwelling place on earth and entered eternal life to be
with his heavenly Father Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Sierra Vista Hospital in T or C. He was
born July 15, 1931 in Anthony to Maria Carbajal. Mr. Carbajal served his country honorably
in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from Fort Bliss as a
Refrigeration Mechanic and was a member of the Catholic Church. Those left to mourn his
passing include two sons, Arturo Carbajal Jr. of Eugene, Oregon, Damian Carbajal of Las
Cruces; three daughters, Martha Carbajal and Elizabeth Carbajal both of Las Cruces, Eva
Miranda and husband David of Berino; two brothers, Rodolfo "Fito" Carbajal of
Las Cruces, Raúl Carbajal of Brazito; three sisters, Maggie Madrid of Anthony, Belia
Provencio of Chamberino and Elva Sierra of Berino. Other survivors include six
grandchildren, Veronica and David Cruz Miranda, US Ar!

Davidson; seven great grandchildren, Anthony and Gabriel Miranda, Isaiah, Xavier,
Isabella, Zachariah and Elijah Morones as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was
preceded in death by his mother; his wife, Estela Carbajal; a sister, Elvira Aldaz and a
brother, Hector Carbajal. Visitation for Mr. Carbajal will begin at 5 p.m. Sunday, June
17, 2012 in St. Anthony Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue where the Prayer Vigil is
scheduled for 6 p.m. Family and Friends will join together to celebrate the Funeral Mass
at 10 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 in the same church with Reverend Andres Alava
officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Anthony Cemetery with
military honors accorded by the New Mexico National Guard Honor Guard and the VFW Post
4384 Honor Guard. Serving as casket bearers will be Raul Carbajal Jr., David Cruz Miranda,
Jose Ortega Jr., David Miranda, Michael !
