Thank!!!
Sadie and John Thomas also had a daughter Elgiva "Elgie" Thomas (my great
grandmother, she married Samuel Wade Cooper, they had three daughters Eva
Virginia(my grandmother), Euna May, and Thelma Thomas. They moved from the
Gull Rock area to Belhaven...I've been told that Sam owned a business in
Belhaven which was in the building where an old very tall smokestack
remains
today I can't find out anything else about that business. Elgie
died at 39
and is buried in Belhaven, Sam and his three daughters moved to Farmville
and Sam went into the carpentry business. My mother is the daughter of
Eva.
I've also been able to find nothing on Asa Franklin or Docia Ann.
Thanks for the reply
Wanda

Yes. Sadie Carawan (b. 26 Nov 1875 in Hyde Co. d. 27 Jul 1951 in
Lake Landing twp, Hyde Co.) married John Thomas Pugh (b. 17 Aug 1870
in Hyde Co. d. 23 May 1958 in Lake Landing twp, Hyde Co.) around
1891... don't have an exact marriage date. I have Sadie as daughter
of Asa Franklin "Frank" Carawan (b. 9 Jan 1858 d. unknown but after
1880) and Docia Ann Swindell (b. abt 1854 d. after 1880). Children
Alfred Jackson, John Thomas Jr., and Frank.
Asa Franklin's origins are kind of hazy too but I have him currently
as the son of Joseph G. Carawan (1830-1895) and Nancy B. White (b.
abt 1837). Not sure where Docia Ann came from either.
Corrections welcome!
