I wish I could help but we have not been able to trace our Carawan ancestors back to
Somerset, though we feel certain that is where they were when they came to Hyde County,
NC. And we are not sure when the spelling "Carawan" started.

Subject: [CARAWAN] Kirwin
Hello, my 3rd maternal great
grandmother Elizabeth "Betsy" Kirwin was born 1807 Somerset Co., MD and
died in 1860. She married James Horner born 1802 Somerset Co., MD and
died in 1860, the same year as his Betsy. They had 4 children: John M. Kirwin,
Lucinda T. Kirwin, Susanna Kirwin (my 2nd maternal great
grandmother), and Sydney Kirwin. I am hoping that someone will know
something about these Kirwin's. I have looked high and low and cannot
find out who Betsy Kirwin's parents were.
Please email me if you know anything at all about my grandmother's family.
Thank you, Eve Epstein
