Kitty and List:
I never saw this come across the list and Kitty did not reply so I
expect that it did not make it all the way to you. It was sent on
the 22nd. and I have just resent it with this note and cut out some
of the previous correspondence that was included.

KITTY:
Thanks for the title which you bestowed on me, but I am just plain
Rob Lewis, not Dr. I am a retired Naval Supply Officer.
I certainly accept your explanation of McDonalds birthplace
records. All of us have seen it happen all too often but I believe
that the record should be set right where and when possible.
I have not found the connection between Thomas Jefferson VOLIVA and
Daniel CARAWAN but I suspect that Daniel was probably an uncle whose
wife Mary (1860 Goose Creek Census) might possibly have been a
sister to TJ's mother Alice Sawyer. Still searching and hoping to
find something to confirm this thought.
Thanks.

Dr. Lewis,
Thank you for your email. I agree with you about the dates of the
formation of Pamlico Co. and agree that CC and McDonald Carawan were
born either in Beaufort or Craven Co. I reviewed my abstract of
Christopher Columbus Carawan Beaufort County death certificate and Mrs.
Garriss gave that information. I copied that information from microfilm
at the archives in Raleigh. S.123.1224, File 2245, p. 81. My thought is
that when Mrs Garriss, the informant, gave the information , she knew
the locations to be within the boundaries of present day Pamlico and
Beaufort Co.
Did you ever learn the connection of Jefferson Voliva to Daniel Carawan?
