Glenn Carowan,
I am related to the Kirvans and am wondering if you have any relatives with
this spelling. This line ended up in Michigan.
Thanks for any help.

I have recently acquired the entire Kirwan Klan family history dating from
Matthew Kirwan who first entered the country from Ireland. There is very
compelling evidence that we Carowans (Carawans, etc) were Kirwans at least
until 1745 when a clerk of court in Dorchester Cty probably misspelled the
name. The records indicate that John Kirwan (wife Mary) was also one and the
same John Carawan and had three sons, Matthew, John, and Peter and a
daughter Elizabeth. I believe I can certainly help you Kelly with the info
you are seeking. I hope to one day sooner than later put this info in
electronic form for distribution. I will look to see if I can find info on
James in the book and will get back to you.
