Claud Carawan Jr. might have some information on James
Green Carawan. He gave me some info that he was once a
confederate soldier, but after his unit disbanded he
became a Union soldier.
Better ask him.

Folks,
I recently was informed by one of our cousins that
the US Army Military
History Institute at Carlisle Barracks had two
photos of Bernard Carawan
who had served in Company B of the 1st NC Union
Volunteer Infantry
during the Civil War. Being unable to afford the
photos, I did manage
to get xerox copies of these photos, which I have
posted on the Carawan
web site: Photos of Bernard Carawan, Union Soldier -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~jmack/photos.htm
Anyone having info on Bernard, Christopher, James G.
Carawan or any
other Carawan who served in either army during the
Civil War, please let
me know. Thanks,
John
