born Dec. 5, 1755. in Berks Co. Penn. He married Catherine
Bost 1836. His father was Phillip Karcher/Caraker.
Now you can see how I fit in.
Someone said that the Karrakers migrated to Illinois.
This is how it really was. In 1818 Daniel Karcher and Jacob
Karcher traveled to Illinois together along with other families
from N.C. They settled in Union County . The two brothers
lived close together. They had families and named their children
some of the same names. To keep the families straight Daniel
startted spelling his name Karraker (the German way) and Jacob
started spelling his Caraker (the American way). Souther Illinois
therefore has Karraker and Caraker. If your name is spelled
Karraker you are off of Daniel and if it is Caraker you are off of
Jacob. No matter how we spell our name we all go back to
Germany and are related.
