Dear Caraker researchers. I am the listowner for the Caraker mailing list.
Unfortunately, I feel I have not done much to get the list off the ground
because I am not a direct Caraker researcher, therefore, I know very little
history for this surname.
I started the list because a sibling of my ggf married into the Caraker line
in Union Co., IL and I could not find anything on the net for this surname.
My ggf's line (PHELAN) has been the most difficult one I have and I have
been desperately grasping at straws for a number of year, I.e. my starting
this list. A Rootsweb surname mailing list is the best way to connect
researchers and will wonders never cease, it is free to all researchers.
Rootsweb is one of the first avenues a new computer researcher finds on the
net, therefore, the need for the mailing list.
I paid the up front fees ($12 whole dollars), set it up and am happy to keep
up the listowner duties (there has been none so far - LOL) for this list.
I will be happy to continue to do this even if I eventually find the
descendants of my Caraker/Phelan line. HOWEVER, if there is anyone on line
who has a lot of info on this surname and has the interest and time to
promote the list, I would love to turn the list over to them at any time.
And I would be glad to hold the new owner's hand now and forever to maintain
the list - LOL.
It is an easy job. I have been a listowner for 2 years and I manage 8
mailing list. And I swear I have never, ever had a problem!!!! Anyone
interested just let me know.
As mentioned in the subject line, I NEED HELP getting this mailing list
more active to help the subscribers. I am handicapped in this area as I
am only doing research in the IL area.
If anyone belongs to a mailing list in the area that you're doing Caraker
(or variant) research, feel free to advertise and put out a query asking
people to join us on this list. If anyone is corresponding already with
another Caraker researcher, please let them know about the list. As you
know, the more subscribers we have, the more we are likely to connect with
another researcher.
Happy searching!
