Lois J. (Martin) Capwell, 76 of Enfield passed from life on Tuesday (October 16, 2007) in
Suffield. Lois was the beloved wife of 46 years to the late Holden B. Capwell. She was
born on May 23, 1931 in Fall River, MA a daughter of the late Frederick and Edith (Wall)
Martin and had resided in Enfield for the past 50 years. Prior to retiring Lois was
employed with Southern Auto Auction, E. Windsor, for several years. She was a member of
The General Society of Mayflower Descendants. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing
bingo and was a longtime standing Boston Red Sox fan. Lois and Holden researched, wrote
and published two volumes on the history of the Capwell family. She leaves many fond
memories of which her loving family will always cherish. Lois is survived by a daughter,
Deborah Freehan and her husband, Stephen of Milford, MA; a daughter, Cathy Madison and her
husband, Frederick of Winsted; a daughter, Carol Capwell and her companion, Arthur Murphy
of Enfield; and a son,!
James Capwell and his wife, Jane of Pittsfield, ME; her six beloved grandchildren,
Joshua, Todd and Stephanie Freehan, Denielle Delaney, and Lucian and Cheyenne Maragnano
and three great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister, Muriel Pierce of Auburn, MA. In
honoring Lois's wishes there will be no calling hours. A Graveside service will take
place on Saturday Oct. 20, at 10:30 a.m. in the Hazardville Cemetery, Enfield. BROWNE
