This is a transcription of a letter received by Lorraine Hayes, daughter in
law of Margaret CAPSTICK.
Margaret is daughter of Sarah DOCKERY and Edward Winder CAPSTICK. Sarah is
my 2g grandmother. (She is the one mentioned below that went to America,
not the one that married SMITH. That is Sarah DOCKERY's daughter.

given me a funeral card of her sister to copy it out.

In Loving memory of
Edward CAPSTICK
Beloved husband of Sarah CAPSTICK,
Who died March 23rd, 1901
Aged 71 yrs.
Interred at Dalton Cemetery on the 27th
In my Granny's family there were five girls and two boys. One infant boy
died when he was a few weeks old. All the girls were married in England.
Anne married Richard ALAN who lived Cow Brow, Westmoreland, he kept a
grocers shop there until he went to Dalton, and then worked for Dalton Corp
until he died. Sarah married Theodor Smith, he was a butcher and farmer at
Skipton, Yorkshire. Aunt Sarah died last year, but you can get full details
from Charlie Smith, 1 Beech Hill Rd, Carleton, Skipton, Yorks, England.
Emma (Granny) married Richard Mason a Grimsargh farmer. She has lived here
ever since she was married. Richard has been dead fourteen years. Mary
Jane married Jack BIRD at Princes St, Dalton-in-Furness.
Next comes Aunt (Maggie) Margaret who I think will know the best herself,
when she was married. Their mother went out to America but Granny can not
tell you anything about her. This is taken from the remembrance card of
Granny's brother William:
In loving memory of William CAPSTICK
Born Feb 3rd, 1865

Aged 45 yrs, 3 months 19 days.
Albert Edward (BATES) was not really a CAPSTICK. He was an adopted son.
John was a few days old when he died. John was the youngest of the family.
We live on 106 acres farm. We have about 100 head of cattle a few pigs and
hens. It is a dairy farm and we have a large milk round in Preston. On the
farm is my Granny and her two sons. The youngest married and I have a four
year old brother Richard, my fathers name is William (Bill). My Granny's
other son is called Richard (Dick). He is not married. Two of Granny's
daughters are still at home. They are not married, they're Martha & Nelly.
Granny has a daughter married. She lives at Clayton-le-Aule, Mr Blackburn,
she has two daughters and a son, one daughter (Esther) lives with Granny.
I am Ada. I have not left school yet. I go to Queen Mary's High School
Lytham. I don't think I have much more to say. But everyone sends their
love to you and Aunt Margaret, so,
