Charles
I have some Capsticks who were born in Liverpool between 1838 and early
1900's Their parents and grandparents came from Westmorland and their
ancestors were Capsticks from Dent in Yorkshire. Can we compare notes ?

Sandra, Thank you for your 2 messages. Unfortuneately, my Aunt Maggie
died
a
spinster sometime around the 1940s, and was born and lived her whole
life
in
West Derby, Liverpool. I can not see that any of my reasearch will be
of
help to you. My dead end is the lack of a birth record for my G G
Grandfather who was born in around 1834. He married in Liverpool later on,
but I can find no plausible birth record for him in the mid 1830s.
Sorry I can not help
Regards
Charles Capstick

Hi List,
The research I acquired shows my great grandfather Richard ALLEN (Sr)
coming
from Cow Brow to
Dalton and working at the Dalton Corp. It says he was a grocer in Cow
Brow.
Is there a list for those areas? I have him on the 1901 census
living at
29
Bankside Dalton in Furness as a Carter(?) for Urban Council. What is
the
Urban Council? The obit says Beckside as his address.
This is his obit.
On Wednesday the funeral took place in the Dalton Cemetery of Mr. Richard
ALLEN (68), of 29 Beckside, Dalton. The Rev. J.S.Rothwell officiated and
the bearers were fellow-workmen of the Urban Council. The chief mourners
were Mr. and Mrs. S.BROWN (Carlton), Mr. and Mrs. LLEWELLYN (Martin),
(sister and brothers-in-law), Mr. T.H. ALLEN (Wolverhampton), son, Mr. and
Mrs. COWBURN (Preston), daughter and son-in-law; Mrs. FARRINGTON
(Barrow),
sister; Mary and Dick Morris, grandchildren, with many friends and
neighbours. There were floral tributes from Tom, Cissie, Maggie, Sarah,
David, Mary, Agnes and Dick, Eva; Mrs. Todd; Mr. S. Brown; Urban Council
workmen; Mr. Phillipson; friends and neighbours; Mr.Charles Pickering; Mr.
and Mrs. Cowburn; Mr. and Mrs. Stainton; Mrs. Jackson.
He was married in Burton in Kendal, Westmoreland to Annie CAPSTICK on
August
20, 1881. By his age given in the census as 46, his death was 1923 or
1924.
His son Richard ALLEN (Jr) and Elizabeth KITCHING came to the states in
1920 and didn't keep in very good contact with his parents or many
siblings.
His brother David ALLEN was killed in a motorcycle accident at
Baycliffe.
I have the newspaper article with his picture.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Sandy
