The Sedbergh & District History Society have recorded the monumental
inscriptions of the following churches in the Sedbergh area:
St John's, Garsdale
Garsdale Methodist Chapel, Low Smithy
St Andrew's, Sedbergh
St Mark's, Cautley

Dent Methodist Chapel
Dent United Reformed Church

Each individual MI is on an A4 sheet with a description of the memorial,
its location within the graveyard, its inscription (where readable) and a
photograph. Photocopies of the whole set are available on the shelves in
the Society's history room in Main Street, Sedbergh.

Fortunately the gravestones are all still there in the above churchyards.
For anyone with an interest in families in the Sedbergh/Dent/Garsdale area,
it is well worth joining the History Society. The Society has a membership
of over 300, produces a quarterly newsletter and also an annual publication
'The Sedbergh Historian'. Subscriptions for UK members are £8 per annum.
