In reply to the request for information on William Capps, born in
Tennessee and moved to Missouri and then Calif. Most Capps who moved
to Missouri in the early 1800's were from the Capps family of Grainger
County, Tennessee. These Capps probably moved there from Mecklinberg
County, North Carolina. Those Capps probably moved there from
Virginia. I have Capps three times in my ancestry. All three
generations came together in Missouri. One is from Mecklinberg, and
the other two can be traced to Grainger County. I am sure that all
three were related but have yet to document exactly how!
