In researching the Capps side of my Long-Boruff line, I ran across three
Longs in the general area of the Clinch River of Grainger County around 1820.
John Carlyle Long (b. ca 1790 in Pa.; m. to Katy Beeler) is my direct
ancestor. The two women's relationship to him is not determined. However,
Barbara Long, b. 1793 in North Carolina, was married to David Capps, and a
John Long was the bondsman for that marriage. Jemima Long, who married Joab
Capps in 1818 in Grainger County, is a complete mystery, but I can't help but
wonder if the three are siblings.
Can anyone shed some light on this hypothesis?
