All I know is that my grandfather was Harold Albert Capps from Johnston
County. He died in the mid 1980's. My father is Robert Capps of Angier,
NC and never actually knew his father.
Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

RESPONSE:
Hi Debra;
Im sorry to say I am not familiar with your grandfathers name - but if I come
accross it - Ill keep you in mind.
I have alot of info on Johnston County Capps Before 1870. After that, our
Capps moved to Cumberland County- so I concentrate on this county after 1870.
Here is a Hint: if you can get a copy of your grandfathers Death certificate
(through the county in which he died) it should list his parents names on it.
Then it is easier to get further back.
The Capps history is a fascinating one. William Capps Sr came to the area in
the mid 1700s and was descended from the 1st William Capps who came to
America in 1609, and served in the House of Burgess representing Elizabeth
City. I have many files on him through the Library of congress and other
sources.
Good luck on your search and if you get your Great grandfathers name maybe I
can help you more!
Please Email me when you find it at: <A
