We got them both today. Mary Matilda Louisa Jane CAPPS who married GLAZE and then PETTY.
On Matilda's death certificate, it says that she was born 7-16-78. On the 1920
census she states that she is 40, so not sure about the year here. Says that the name of
her father was Harmon CAPPS and mother was Catherine. BUT says that the giver of this
information was the informant was Dorothy Clegg Wilson the name of the Embalmer was Warren
Clegg the funeral home: Worth Clegg Funeral Home. So? No one knows how this Dorothy knew
this stuff about Matilda. For SS# it says none. So now I'm confused about that.
The Dawes application: Nancy Holland married an unknown Capps and was living in
Ashville, North Carolina. Her brother Walter Holland testifies that she is living in
Ashville with no intentions to return and that he does not know the name of her husband
nor her children's names. His mother was known as Peggy, but he says that she is on
the roll as Margaret (doesn't say what roll) their father's name was Hugh (a white
man).
Nancy HOLLAND CAPPS was rejected. The district was Tahlequah.
