Thomas Capper was a soldier of the War of 1812, being drafted in 1813
while residing in Franklin County, Territory of Indiana (per his War of

says: That he is the identical person who waws a private in the Company
commanded by Captain Lee in the 7th Regiment of Indiana Militia
commanded by Colonal McFarlan in the war with Great Britain declared by
the United States on the 18th day of June 1812; that he was drafted at
Brookville on or about the 25th day of March A.D. 1813 for the term of
three months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of
one month and one half and was honorably discharged at Brookville on or
about the 29th day of June 1813 as will appear by the muster rolls of
said company; and that he had a written discharge but that the same is
now lost. He makes this declaration for the pupose of obtaining the
bounty land to which he may be entitled under the act granting bounty
land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in military
service of the United States. Dated September 28, A.D. 1851.

Daniel Shafer and Philip Linch was made and was at the time of
administering said oath, and at the time of making the said affadavit,
an acting Justice of the Peace within and for the County of Franklin,
duly elected, commissoned and qualified by the laws o said state to
administer oaths for general puposes; that the foregoing signature
purporting to be his is genuine and that to all of his official acts are

On this 4th day of June A.D. one thousand eight hundred and fifty five,
personally appeared, Thomas Capper, aged seventy six years, who being
duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical Thomas
Capper who was a private in the Company commanded by Captain Samuel Lee,
in the seventh regiment commanded by Colonel McFarland, of the Militia
of the Territory of Indiana, in the War with Great Britain; that he was
draufted at Brookville in the County of Franklin in the said Territory
of Indiana on or about the 13th day of March A.D. 1813 for the term of
three months and continued in actual service in said war for the term of
seventy five days and was hinorably discharged on Brookville in the said
County of Franklin on the 17th day of June A.D. 1813.
He makes this declaration for the pupose of obtaining the bounty land to
which he may be entitled under the approved act of March 3, 1855. He
also declares that he has not received a warrant for bounty land under
this or any other act of Congress, nor made any other application
therefore, except that he made application for bounty land under the Act
of Congress of 27th September 1850 but he has never received a bounty

I, John Howell, a resident of Decatur County in the State of Indiana
upon my oath declare that I am well acquainted with Thomas Capper; that
I have known him to be the identical Thomas Capper who was a private in

June 1813. Deponent further states that he, this deponent, was drafted
at the same time that said Capper was, served together in the same
company and were regurlarly discharged and mustered out of service at
the same time; that he knows that said Thomas Capper continued in actual
service in said company for the period above states, and further this
