MET AN AWFUL DEATH
Employee at Oil Mill Ground to Death While Oiling Machinery
Oklahoma City: John P. Capp, an employee of the Southwestern Cottonseed Oil Company mill,
was found dead in the seed room, the night watchman making the discovery in his rounds.
The mill officials and Coroner Messenbaugh were at once notified.
When the body was discovered it was lying on the floor near a ladder under some shafting
and, from wounds and bruises about the left shoulder, and the fact that much of the
man's clothing was badly torn, indicated that, while engaged in his work as an oiler,
his clothing became entangled in the shafting, dragging him to a quick and awful death.
Coroner Messenbaugh after viewing the body and investigating the facts concluded that an
inquest was unnecessary. Capp was twenty-five years of age and had been a resident of
Oklahoma City for about three years. He was a industrious young man of excellent
character, and was well liked by his associates and employers.
