YOUNGSTOWN - Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Pleasant
Valley Church in Niles, Ohio for Cindy Capp, 56, who died Monday afternoon at St.
Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.
Mrs. Capp was born May 25, 1958, in Youngstown, Ohio, (Mahoning County) the daughter of
the late Albert William and Frances Jean (McMillian) Mercer.
Cindy graduated from Liberty High School in 1976.
She then attended Youngstown State University, where she received two degrees, a BFA and
BS in Education.
Cindy was a long-time substitute teacher for Youngstown City Schools.
She belonged to the Pleasant Valley Church, where she was the assistant youth group leader
and part of the bereavement committee.
Cindy was the regional director of Destination Imagination, a past team manager at Chaney
High School from 1996 to 2009, summer day camp director with Boy Scouts for three years, a
long-term member of the Red Hot Lady Bugz, member of the Protestant Family Services Board
and danced with the Ansambl' Karavan Group.
She enjoyed baking and cooking, as well as cross stitch, crochet and playing speed
scrabble. Cindy always carried a game bag with her to family functions and even had a
special bag for the younger kids.
She leaves behind her husband, Robert T. Capp, whom she married on July 17, 1982; her
three sons, William Capp of Youngstown, Timothy Capp of Waynesboro, Va., and David Capp of
Youngstown, OH; her brother, Stephen (Diane) Mercer of VanWert; niece Ashley Brister;
nephew Jonathan Mercer, both of Florida; as well as many other family, friends and loved
ones.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the Pleasant
Valley Church in Niles, OH

Niles, OH 44446.
