The Last Will and Testament of DENNIS CAPPS deceased stands Viz:
In the name of God Amen Jenery the 12th day 1762. I DENES CAPPS of Currituck
County and gouvment of North Carolina being well stricken in years but in
perfect senses and memory thanks be to God for the same and knowing the
uncertainty of this Trancetory Life and that it is appointed once for all men to die
am minded to settle my affairs in manner and form following that is to say I do
make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament and first and principally I
give and bequeath my Soul unto God who gave it hopeing that through the Merrits
of Jesus Christ my Blessed redemer I shall reciev forgivness and remessions
for all my sins and my body to be buried in the earth in such dessant and
Christian manner as my Executor hearafter mentioned shall think meet and convenient
and as for what worldly goods God in his mercy hath lent unto me I give and
bequeath as followeth.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my son CALEB CAPPS my manner plantation whear
on I live containing one hundred and fifty seven acres of land and marsh to
him and his heirs forever and if my said CALEB should die without lawfull heir
of his body that it should fall to my son EDWARD CAPPS and his heirs forever.
Item: I give unto my son CALEB CAPPS one feather bed and furniture one lrge
tabel one lerge dish and plate and mill and my gun and one /2 of a pare of cart
wheels and young horse bridel and saddle two cows and calves two sows and
pigs one ew and lamb
Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter MARY CAPPS one bed and furniture
one duftail chest one large dish and basen and plate one foot wheel one iron
pot and one hackel two two year old heffers and one ew and lamb and for to be
delivered to her when she comes of twelve years old.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my son DENES CAPPS my small plantation whear
he lives containing sixty acres to him and his heirs forever and I leave my
peteorger (sic) between my sons DENES and EDWARD CAPPS and my mare colt and one
sow and pigs.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my son EDWARD CAPPS one young mare ew and lamb
and the loome and my carpenters tools.
Item: I give and bequeath unto my datter MILBRA HILL one cow and calf one
young stear one dish
Item: I give and bequeath unto my son JONNA CAPPS eighty acres of land called
Hecar (?) Ridge and the rest of estate I leave to be equally divided between
my Wife and her two children (turn over) also I do leave THOMAS DUDLEY and
CALEB CAPPS my hole and sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. In
Witness wherof I have hear unto set my hand this 12 day of Janury 1762
