George Joseph CAPEWELL was born in Birmingham on June 26 1843. Father was
Mark Anthony Capewell and mother was Jane Elizabeth (Titcombe) Capewell.
Mark Capewell was the grandfather of George Joseph. Mark was born in Dudley
and married Mary Southall of Birmingham Heath. Mary Southall's brother was
called William and was a nail manufacturer. Mark Capewell was a glass
manufacturer.
There were three sons of Mark and Mary Capewell, George, Joseph Thomas and
Mark Anthony. All three sons had gone to America by 1844, Mark being the
last to go in 1844.
George Joseph CAPEWELL, his elder sister Jane Eliza and his mother Jane
Elizabeth all moved to America in 1845, arriving in New York on 24 December
on the ship "Queen of the West"
Mark Anthony died 27 October 1854, from consumption.
Joseph Thomas married Sarah Pitt.
George Joseph CAPEWELL married Garafelia Hull on March 20 1864, and there
were three children Ida G, Mary A and George Joseph Capewell Junior.
The nail making started in earnest in the 1880's and 1890's.
I do have some information about a Joseph Capewell from Leeds, but whether
it is the nail manufacturer I do not know. The info was written in 1906.
Joseph Capewell living at Wood Lea, Dewsbury Road, Beeston, Leeds. Son of
Samuel Capewell (deceased).
Joseph has four sons. Joseph John, living at St.Catherine's Cottage, Belle
Vue, Wakefield, Ernest Henry, living at Armley, Leeds, Arthur Claude of

Are they connected? Who knows?
