The USS Caperton DD-650 was a WW-II destroyer not a battleship. The DD
hull number is the clue. Battleships would be designated as BB's. The
USS Iowa was BB-61 and the New Jersey was BB-62.
There are a number of sites that contain info on a variety of past and
present day ships of the line, including photos and histories. Plug a
ship type into your search engine and you ought to find them. One that
I tried recently is
http://www.warships1.com/.
I presume Miss M. Caperton was a daughter or grand daughter of Captain
Caperton.

to: tmottle,
As to who I am: My name is John Loftus. I served on the USS Dortch
DD-670 and the USS Caperton DD-650 during the Korean conflict. I also
made cruises on the USS Iowa BB-61 and the USS Midway, which was the
last carrier built in WW-II. I went to Villanova Univ. and the Univ. of
Penna. and worked a number of years in the Aerospace Industry. I live in
Pennsylvania.
Did we meet sometime? It's possible but I can't remember.
