Louise Coffman, 77, a longtime resident of Deming passed away Monday, September 29, 2003
at her home. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Baca's
Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be that afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the First United
Methodist Church with Reverend David Okerberg officiating. A Graveside Service will be
Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock, TX under the
direction of Wright Funeral Directors, 311 N. Wall St., Shamrock, TX 79079, 806-256-2188.
Louise was born March 11, 1926 in Shamrock, TX to James H. and Virgil Porter Caperton. She
enrolled in Christian College in 1943 and enjoyed hockey, swimming, dance, voice, and
field hockey in addition to taking a full academic load. She married H.W. Coffman in 1944
and in their 59 years she enjoyed five children; 11 grandchildren; and five
great-grandchildren. Louise was very community oriented and was involved in local
activities in Shamrock and in Deming after the!
y moved there in 1967. In Deming, Louise worked with the Deming newspapers and was also
active with the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Henderson
W. Coffman of Deming; children are Janey L. Coffman Walser of Lubbock, TX, Jim H. Coffman
(died 1979), Sally J. Coffman Farrell of Amarillo, TX, John M. Coffman of Albuquerque,
Julia C. Coffman McCain of Houston, TX; a sister, Janet Caperton Laylock; 11
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, family suggests a
donation be made to the Deming Humane Society PO Box 70 Deming, NM 88031; the First United
Methodist Church, 1020 S. Granite, Deming, NM 88030; or Mimbres Valley Home Health and
