Hi, Robby,
If you have access to
Ancestry.com, Vermont vital records from 1909-2008
are available online.
I wasn't able to fiind a birth record for James Edward Capen, but in the
1920 census for Rockingham, Windham Co., VT, the family is there. I
only looked at the index, which names the father as Jeno K. Capen, but
in further searching the name appears to be Zeno K. Capen. He was born
in VT, and Eleanor M. was born in Canada. Zeno is age 35 and Eleanor is
age 26. Daughter Mildred, age 7, son, James E., age 5, and son, Charles
Zeno Capen, age 3.
I found James Edward Capen's marriage record to Doris Nellie Magoon on
23 June 1941; he is age 27, first marriage, laborer in creamery, born in
Bellows Falls, VT [a village in Rockingham]. Father Zeno Capen, born
Winhall, VT; mother Eleanor McFadden, born Maxwell, Ontario, Canada.
Christian Petersen, pastor of the Baptist church in South Londonderry,
VT, performed the marriage. Recorded in Rockingham. James residence
was 33 Laurel Avenue, Bellows Falls, VT.
His death record gives the death date of 10 Apr. 1914, he died 21 March
1988 as an inpatient in Springfield, Windsor Co., VT; cause of death was
COPD. He was living in South Londonderry, VT. This also gives parents
names, but the indexer read it as Iene K. Capen for his father.
Hope this helps,
Joann Nichols
