I'm trying to tie families together. In the 1850 US Census, Nathaniel Capen (1783-?),
his wife, Ruth (1789-?), and daughter, Caroline (1823, Ohio - appear in Hocking County,
Ohio. His other daughter, Emeline (Apr 1817, Mass. - Feb 1908, Ohio) was already married
(1836 in Ohio ) to Samuel Tannehill (1814 - 1848) - they're my 3rd great
grandparents.
Nathaniel and Ruth C. Bridges were married in Sharon, Mass. on 16 Apr 1815. Emeline was
born in 1817 in Mass and her sister Caroline was born in 1823 in Ohio.
Does anyone have a clue (other than southern and western expansion of US) as to why they
would have left Massachusetts and appeared in rural Ohio between 1817 and 1823? Has anyone
heard of/ is related to any of these people and have information
Thanks,
Pamela
