I'm looking for ancestry of my g.g. grandmother, Louisa J.
Capehart
b. 1828 MO, died 8 Sept 1889 in Pearl, Pike Co, IL and m. to William C.
Dawdy (28 June 1831-22 Dec 1883) m. 13 Feb 1851 in Scott Co, IL.
Thanks for the note, Marilyn. Unfortunately, I don't have any ancestry from MO or IL
so I'm not going to be of any help to you.
The reason I'm responding, however, is that it's been a while since we've had
any activity and I've been holding off waiting for the membership to grow. It still
isn't nearly what I had hoped (you have no idea how many of those invitational emails
I sent out) but I don't want things to die on the vine either so let's exchange
some information.
Very often, we post our brick walls in the hope that someone out there has busted through
and can add to our genealogies. Instead, let's see if we can find some cousins. My
parents were 17th cousins, once removed and never knew it. I propose that we provide our
most recent CAPEHART ancestor (even if it's daddy or mommy) and a couple (to five)
generations back to see if any of us tie together back there somewhere.
Unfortunately, I have but one known CAPEHART ancestor so my brick wall and my most recent
ancestor are the same. She is:
Adelia David CAPEHART
b: 20 Nov 1825
m: 13 Jul 1843 to Jonathan Jacocks RHODES in Bertie Co., NC
d: 28 Feb 1902
I have a source that indicates that Adelia was the daughter of Jonathan and Nancy Cooper
Capehart of Bertie County but I have been unable to find substantiating evidence of the
link.
Does that ring a bell for anyone?
Take Care -- Paul
