Subject: Hi
Hi Kevan; I read you post about John Cape Sr. I watch for Cape researchers,
because I probably have something for you. In the "William Strong Prayer
Book" there is an entry for the birth of John Cape of April 25 1726.
Everybody else in this book is of the Strong family, so I have long thought
that John Cape was a stepson of William Strong from, as the William Strong
children are born starting 1732. You mentioned finding a William Cape that
you consider a possibility as father of John Cape Sr. I assume that you
found this William Cape the same place I found him, that is in the Vestry
Book of St. Paul's Parish, Hanover Co., Va. This is also where William
Strong lived, and one of the William Cape entries in 1747 says he was buried
by "William Straughan", who I imagine is William Strong. Since this burial
was in 1747 and William Strong and wife were having children by 1732,
William Cape would not be a first husband of Mrs. Strong, but would most
likely be her father or brother.
Sincerely, Jim Rolff(JRolff(a)aol.com)
