Message Board Post:
I do have ancestors that are CANTEYs way back and have some personal sources to look at
here.
Without any of your information, we have nothing to go on. Without posting data on living
individuals, please fill us in. If someone else connects to a person in your tree, you
will have hit pay dirt. For those of us who "collect" information which may help
later or which disproves what we needed, we might just have something.
Most of us don't jump back several generations to begin searching but go back one
generation at a time. Census records are some of the best to help us in our search.
Individuals are located a (usually) single place and time, the date of the census as
prescribed for a particular decade. You can find out things like states and countries of
origin, age, race, occupation. Earlier censuses don't have as much but you may be able
to share on the board.
If you could provide what you already have in different posts. That would be a start.
Perhaps your grand parents in the CANTEY line which lead to June and July's
generation. Name the town in South Carolina. Let us know where in the other states you are
looking. Learn who your CANTEYs' neighbors were. You can use that to see if the
neighbors might have moved further south together.
If you know the names of the children in any or all generations, you have valuable clues
to find the particular CANTEY you need.
I would suggest that you change the subject to something reflecting the CANTEYs you are
posting. The posts won't be linked the same way, but it can help other researchers
especially those who aren't looking for June or July!
When you find someone's post online, you can click on their name to find other items
posted by them. This can speed up your search or narrow the clues.
Looking forward to seeing your information. MomSmith4
